Previous Work

Over the years, my experience in building has led me down various paths. I have always enjoyed the variety of work and with each job I try to learn something new. I have been in the construction industry for over 30 years and have experience in:

  • Deck building
  • Landscaping
  • Kitchen and bathroom renovations
  • Basement Development & Renovations
  • Cabinet making
  • Counter top installations
  • Electrical work of all kinds (I am also a licensed electrician)
  • Carpentry work, hanging doors, installing windows, etc.
  • Building workbenches for other handy men and women
  • Drywall repairs
  • Painting & Staining
  • Etc, etc, etc.

Below are some samples of what I have done in the past and a brief explanation on each. If you have any questions feel free to send me a question on the Free Quote form or call 587-600-1141.

Thanks.

This deck was in desperate need of repair. I stripped everything down to the joists, lengthened the deck, and rebuilt it. I also added the privacy wall, the flower boxes on both sides and the vertical spindles and expanded the flower bed to run the entire length of the flower box above.

I used a combination of the decent boards left over from the demo (which were pressure-treated) and added new cedar lumber to save money.

You'll notice a two-tone look, just the two different types of wood used. The stain was a top-quality product and the same color throughout.

I custom-made these laundry room cabinets to fit the available wall space. I used the durable pocket hole joinery method to build the boxes. Everything is made from 1/2" plywood, resulting in solid and durable cabinets. I sprayed them with a high-quality lacquer for a lasting finish. I can custom-make this type of cabinet to fit almost any space.

The T.V. backdrop above is a layered look using tongue and groove material from Windsor Plywood. The cabinets are premade kitchen cabinets from Home Depot so I could put all this together in just a couple of days. The rope lighting behind is operated off a remote, giving the viewer the option of different colors. I needed to add wiring to facilitate the sound system and the cable and power for the T.V.  I also had to cut out some drywall to make everything work and then patch and paint the entire wall to ensure no transition seams were visible.

Building this workbench was one of my favourite projects. I made this moving workbench for myself so I could move my bench wherever I needed it. I attached a 25' cord with 2 - duplex receptacles for power. This way, I could charge batteries, use power tools, and not be limited to just my stationary bench. I can store my compressor, shop vac, drills, skill saw, hand tools, and fasteners in one spot.

Plus, I roll it outside the garage on a sunny summer day and work in the sun.

It lets me leave all the sawdust outside rather than in the garage.

I had a request to build a gate for a homeowner who's father was living on the upper floor and unfortunately suffered from dementia. In order to protect him from falling, I built and installed this gate at the top of the stairs.

The photos above are of a kitchen renovation. I utilized some of the existing cabinet boxes and built new boxes to take the cabinets to the ceiling. I also removed an old raised breakfast-style eating area and replaced the counter with a single height wood countertop. I built new cabinet doors and drawers, installed a gas stove, and an over-the-stove microwave/hood fan. I custom-made the wine rack with a space at the bottom for the T.V. receiver. The T.V. was mounted on a telescoping wall mount to allow it to be pulled out and then pushed back into place. I installed the backsplash and then sealed the tile and the grout to ensure grease from cooking would not stain the tile. (I'm still trying to figure out why I took the photo when the toe-kick still needed to be finished, but I'm sure you get the idea).
